Description
Wilpshire Golf Club
Nr Blackburn Ladies Section - The original men’s Club
was formed in 1890 at 72 Whalley Road, Wilpshire, Blackburn, Lancashire. This is the
sort of button I like! No ambiguity or uncertainty on identity. It is in monogram form as
well but in case there may be other ‘W’ clubs with a similar format, the ladies tell you
in full who and where they are. A silver award with a backmark of Birmingham 1914 by
WJD, even the shank is struck with the lion passant. Diameter is 23mm. of heroes). The
boys presumably played over the East Berkshire course founded in 1904.
Information is from an article in
"The British Golf Collectors Society" written by Dixon Pickup.
