Description


Rowlands Castle Golf Club - This club was formed in 1902 at Links Lane, Rowlands Castle, Havant, Hampshire. A silver award, one of four, all 23mm, the well-raised design displays the club title clubs and balls, with a central shield for the winner’s details. The reverses vary slightly but were all made by Messrs Firmin; both the London and Birmingham addresses are employed plus their mark ‘F&S’. One is 1909 and the remainder 1911. Sadly they were engraved retrospectively and the rather careless engraver placed ‘Dec 09’ on the HM 1912 button and ‘June 1912’ on the HM 1909 example illustrated.
