Description
Hutton Court Golf Club - First mentioned 1928.
An 18 hole course a mile and a half from Bleadon and Uphill station. It was a fine course with beautiful
springy turf. Stretching along the top of the hills on land belonging to the Bisdee Estate, it was owned
by Ray Shirley, he and his sister Mrs Bailey being scratch golfers. The land was requisitioned at the
beginning of WW2 and, although Mr Shirley maintained the greens throughout the war, it was never reopened.
Membership 150-180.
