Dartmouth Golf Club - The club was founded in 1910 and situated at Vale Street, West
Bromwich, Staffs, playing over a nine-hole course one mile from the town centre. Though
fairly confident about my geographical knowledge of these islands, I must admit to turning
to the fair county of Devon when initially cataloguing this item; it was a bit of a shock
therefore to find it nestling in the arms of West Brom! Though I have not checked with the
Club I assume the title is taken from the then great local landowners, the Legge family,
Earls of Dartmouth. Part of the land surrounding their palatial house Patshull Park is now
another established golf course bearing the same name. This award example is of very
pleasing design in silver and double enamels, the central initials forming a trefoil shape of
red enamel upon crossed inverted clubs, plus a ball at the base of the circle containing the
full title, all within a rim of black enamel. The reverse simply marked Silver (23mm).
