Back of Button # 120a
19mm 'FIRMENS LONDON'
|
Description
Royal Ashdown Forest & Tunbridge Wells Golf Club - The ensuing uniform
button in copper gilt (22mm) but now redesigned to incorporate St Edward’s crown and
a professional marshalling of the club’s insignia and motto. The club title appears in full
around the edge. Back mark is as for the preceding item. In 1901 the Tunbridge Wells
section of the title was dropped, so a third pattern of the period must exist. The current
issue (London Badge & Button Co) reflects the title change. Tunbridge Wells GC was
formed in 1889 and another one south of the town and just in Sussex, The Nevill GC was
formed in 1914.
