Description
Northwood Golf Club - The club was founded in 1891 at Northwood, Middlesex, three
miles east of Richmond. A very large (27mm) convex closed back copper gilt uniform
button contains a central rococo shield bearing the county arms: Gules, three seaxes
proper, hilts to the dexter. These are the ancient arms of Middlesex and Essex (the Middle
and East Saxons). The reverse is without back marks but this example was in the closing
stock of Messrs Pitt.
